LEAGUE SERIES LAUNCHES WITH A ROAR

What a weekend! The 11th – 12th June saw a record number of gymnasts make their way across the border into Wales to kick off the League Series 2017 presented by Flip Out.

There were a few changes from 2016 for this first event. The main one being the introduction of the DMT Cup knock-out competition. When the main event began to wind up on the Saturday, the audience gathered in the stands by the DMT run as all eyes fell upon the top ranking gymnasts of the day. Pass by pass eight became four, and four became two. Daniel Berridge and Timmy Horgan, both of Heart of England Trampoline Club, were ready to go head-to-head for gold. The two attempted unbelievable passes with Dan ultimately taking top position with a triff mount and triple back piked dismount.

The Super League events were equally as exciting with Natasha Woodall of Jumpers Trampoline Club and Ben Watts of Edgbarrow taking the trampoline top positions. It was a clean sweep for Propulsion Trampolining Club as Leo Westbrook and Megan Cummins won the gold medals in the
DMT competition.

This year was extra special as we were so excited to launch the 2017 series we released a special edition Welsh Dragon T-shirt. With a limit of 300, it was a first come first serve race to get your hands on one.

Head of League Events, Andrew Wood, commented:

Year-on-year we try our best to make these competitions as best as they can be to give the gymnasts a good environment to compete in and an overall great time. We weren’t sure how we would top last year’s League Finals but if this first event is anything to go by then 2017 is going to be an absolute storm!

To top off the brilliant weekend were the presentations featuring the new 2017 medal design – by far the best yet. They looked brilliant around the neck of all those that made the podium.
